"I always think there's a band kid!"

Music Man!
So finally tonight we start the production week that has been in progress for well... since just after Thanksgiving. It's preview night!

I've been kinda directing and my right arm and mega Producer and especially friend, has been Delia Alston. To say the least it has been a ride. My friend, Kathryn Tellef, is the Choir teacher @ Taylor Jr. High and does a wonderful job of getting a great sound and Candice Huffaker has been the choreographer - so great. These ladies and so many more (that it would be unfair to name) have come together and made this a great show. Any who would like a nice evening out might consider "The Music Man" as a fun get away. Who knows... next week I might vacuum or dust! Naaah!

All reserved seats are $5.oo and are available @ 924-1832 or email : j_d_buehrle@yahoo.com
Wed. -Fri. 7:00 p.m. and Sat. 2:oo matinee only

I'm seeing Red!

Usually the phrase"I'm seeing Red" is understood to mean that I'm mad, maybe not just mad, but furious. W-e-l-l, as many of you know I have an addiction to the color Red. It does not make me mad, sad or otherwise. It makes me happy:) So today, honoring the 2nd best day of the year(Christmas being the first) we are having a Sweetheart Dinner. This tradition started some 25 years ago. Our little family, all boys, lived in Gilbert at the time. Our Gilbert 1st Ward had a dinner where a few couples(Parker and I and some others) hosted 3-4 other couples and fed, entertained, delighted etc. them. Well, our young boys thought that all the preparations were fun but when we sent them to their rooms to bed, banished for the evening, one of them asked, "Why don't you ever make a party for us?" Pretty pathetic don't you think? Well, the next evening (since I was already set up) I repeated the party for our little family complete with the gourmet meal, the favors, the games and the kids loved it! We repeated the tradition, and over the years have had some big fun. Each person eligible(16 yrs +)must bring a date. We also include some minor etiquette training for example, which fork to use, or pleasant table conversation(using a game called {Roll The Dice}).
Some of our Sweetheart Dinner Highlights include -
"My Big Fat Greek Valentine's Day", where we ate Greek food inspired by our Nephew who served his mission in Greece and learned some things about the Greek Alphabet etc then of course we watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
One year all the food was Red! Come on, you know Tomato soup, Red meat, Red Velvet Cake, you get the idea. That was fun and following the food was a game of Red Playdoh pictionary. That year, Red was the theme and it will be again Tonight. We will be Celebrating the 7th Day of Chinese New Year! You might be saying, "Peg, Isn't that a stretch?" Well no, actually Chinese New Year Started on the 7th of February and lasts 15 days. On this day, in celebration, people gather with their families and eat noodles for longevity, prosperity etc. I'm in for both of those.

So we will eat noodles or know the reason why! And what about my fixation on Red? W-e-l-l, don't you worry, wearing red, decorating in red, and anything you might want to do with red is positive in the Chinese culture. I can definitely wrap my brain around a Culture with so much "taste."
The flamingos are just for a favorite blogger friend who asked about them! Enjoy! Happy Friday the 15th of Who cares now that Valentines Day is over. Sorry this post had to be worked around a ton of prep for our S.D. Which, by the way, was a great success! Heart you all, Peg

A Few reasons

Reasons why I L-o-v-e Valentines Day

and the
Month of February.
First, the spelling -
February.
Seriously cool, a memorize only word.
Second, a short month,
you have to “get ‘er duhn” in a hurry.
Third - Red, like from day one, K, Valentines Day through- President’s Day .... duh Cherries, think!

Fourth - It’s all about Love. Yea! Not Luv, or lurv, but the real deal,
“can’t eat, can’t sleep out of the park kind of love”
Extra points if you can name that movie.
It’s perfect, ‘cause who couldn’t use more love in their life? And, it can be expressed in so many ways, like: cards, letters, flowers, candy, movies, quality time, special dinners, new lingerie, book by a favorite author, sweet smelling stuff, a baked goodie, quiet evening watching LOST, service, a swig from Sonic, a foot rub, a phone call, a secret anonymous service, tickets to His favorite game, reading a good book or story together, singing telegram, scroll of love, attending a James Taylor concert, Wow and the list goes on limited only by your imagination.
And to think I didn’t even mention Groundhog Day! So what’s not to like about February? Just do the math (sing it) Nothing!
Happy February and Valentines day is just 13 days away! Heart, Peg

Out with the Old..... In With the New!

So, I was just wondering why we kiss each other at the Stroke of Midnight as a sign in for the new year. Is it because we want to affirm our warmth and love for each other for another 365 days? Or as one man suggested..that's why people drink prior to the stroke of Midnight.....
That way they will want to kiss their spouse. I thought that was funny. Where did that tradition start I wonder? Anyway, I do love starting a new year. A chance to start again and lose that hundred pounds, write that symphony, cure cancer. I just know that 2007 was one for the books and that 2008 has to be a great year! For you who have dealt with trials of health or pain, 2008 has to be your year. I know that many of you dedicated a good part of 2007 to pain and illness. Let's have a "do-over" in '08, It'll be great.

I myself love that for at least one day a year, everyone is trying to make good on the resolutions they just made. Mark Twain said:
"New Year's Day… now is the accepted time to make your regular annual good resolutions. Next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual."

Happy New Year!

These are a few of my favorite things.....

Sometimes people ask why there is a Lamb in our Christmas Tree? I let those people think about it for a while and then they usually come up with it themselves. It's one of my favorite things.

This Needlepointed Nativity was created by our friends Chuck & Heidi Glauser from our Gilbert days. This has a great story because the pieces are hollow and the Baby Jesus was missing once when Jacob was pretty young. We found the piece inside of Mary. Where else would it be? When I tried to place the Baby Jesus in the manger Jacob wouldn't have it...."Jesus not borned yet". Not till Christmas. Ahhhh!

This great Nativity came from Ghana when our friend Nicole's parent were serving as the President of the Accra Mission there, It's made of Ofrum wood and the characters have such wonderful ....uh...character.

This Willow Tree Nativity took a few years to complete, a few pieces at a time. It came as gifts from our kids. I love the features and spirit of these shapes and it makes me happy every year as we set it up and enjoy it through the season.

I love this time of the year. I hope that all 'yall are having a beautiful season. Peace. No really. Peace.

I Been Tagged - Woah!

Tagged by Nena - Sorry it took so long, Crazy busy right now, but in this tiny window here goes,

Seven things about Peg - by the owner:

I love any color as long as it’s red. All shades of red are acceptable except the one with a lot of orange in it. Clear red=best.

I love to sew, quilt, just mess with fabric things. It makes me happy to create with fabric. Oh Well.

I love to decode recipes. I think it’s fun to “get it right” if I can. If not then oh well. It was fun trying. I might have a success or two(Like: Joe's’ Real Barbecue Beans - Ask Chet). Actually I just love to make stuff up. It’s like, you know, fun.

I love music, no, I love Christmas Music(99.9 f.m. all season baby!), no wait, I love Show Tunes(Always look on the bright side”. Spamalot), no wait, I love James Taylor(right this minute listening to “That’s Why I’m Here, Greatest Hits Vol 2.), no wait, I love so many kinds of music, can I pin down one favorite? Not tonight. Well wait, musical theater. That’s right, I love it. I get a lump in my throat during the overture of any musical, but “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown”? Stop it! I ‘m a moosh. But one of my favs is the overture to The King and I. I can see that show all laid out ready to perform. Fabulous.

I love flowers, all types all colors, all fragrances, But favs are Red Roses, Pink roses and pink or red Geraniums. Ahh bliss!

I love my cute family. I have one of the nicest human beings as my husband. Besides other wonderful traits, he rubs my feet with lotion every time I ask. He doesn’t complain or whine and often he offers. I know you are all envious. I have very nice children. Each and every one has remarkable talents and intellect and energy and faith and when we are all together, it’s the height of joy for me. Imagine six siblings making each other laugh, making up games, singing together, remembering crazy things from the growing up years, and the love and support of each one by the others. It’s pretty cool, who wouldn’t love that?

I love the Lord. I am so grateful to know that I am loved by a Heavenly Father and a Savior. I need saving. I’m humbled to know that I am worth His sacrifice for me. I love the songs and stories about His Birth and his life. I love His teachings, I just wish I could do everything right.
So Nena, I hope it’s what I’m supposed to do. Thanks for the nudge girl. Heart, Peg
