Point Of Origin

Annual Pilgrimage So, Parker and I took the little window we had and trekked over to L.A. to celebrate our Anniversary. We do this because we were married in the L.A. Temple some 34(wow that's a lot!)years ago and we try to revisit that lovely spot whenever we can on our Anniversary. We were blessed to get to see Rob's current show, "All Night Strut" which was very entertaining and fun. We got to stop by the Point of Origin of the Moffat Family, AKA the L.A. Temple which was under seige by the protesters of the passage of prop 8. then we hurried home to Madison's Closing night performance of "Cash on Delivery" (Side brag - "Cash on Delivery" Took State! - She will be performing @ the State Thespian Conference for over 2,000 of her peers on the 22nd of Nov. Woo Hoo!) So don't you love it when two pictures are side by side and you have to guess what is different . Well look at the two photos above and see if you can identify any changes. What? You don't see any changes? Well I don't either. We've come a long way baby! Happy Anniversay to the Hamblins and Raines on Nov. 7th Also! Good Day for a Wedding I might say.

Headline Reads: Baby Votes in National Election!

Read all About it!
Actually that headline might as well be a tabloid.  The "Baby" is Madison and while not literally a baby in the true sense, she is the baby of the family,
is just 18,  and an official Adult and as such all these milestones need to be marked.
But she is more of a "babe" if you want a humble yet correct opinion. Getting up at the.... dare I say (butt) crack of dawn to do her civic duty and waiting in line before the polling place opened.  Yea, that is a babe for sure, having previously marked her pamphlet and getting the official
"I Voted Today"
sticker for all to see is worth a mention. Go Madison, and Yeah for the Good Ole U.S. of A.  Let's see what today brings.  We love America no matter what the outcome and God Bless us everyone.

It was Grand!

Grand Children! Oh yea, Grand children are the best. I loved the chance I had to be with Jacie and Cameron, Oh, and their Mom and Dad too! What a great place their home is and it was a treat for me to get some quality time doing what I love to do.
Here's us reading stories, working puzzles, going on walks and just having fun. A Grand Performance! It was my pleasure to get to see Emily in "My Fair Lady" @ the Pioneer Theater in SLC. Honestly I was very impressed by the production. Of course, don't tell anyone this, but I would love to have seen Emily as Eliza Doolittle. She would have rocked in that role, though she was awesome in the ensemble.
Here's a few of the grand faces Jacie made for me.
Thanks to all who made my visit wonderful. I love you, Heart Peg, G-Ma, etc!

While You Were Out! "18"

It's official. Maddi can now vote(already registered), sign herself in and out of school, and go on single dates. The good news is that she only wants to do the first thing.Cute friends showed up with breakfast @ 6:00 am. So yesterday being her big 1-8, Parker and I did a little "While you Were Out" in honor of the day. We had bribed with new bedding, room makeover etc. You see she has been beyond focused on School throughout the entire summer. It was to the point that she didn't really get a summer, or to be a kid much. Just ask her friends. So Thursday the 11th was the last day of Independent Study Classes, Yesterday being the 12th and her "Legal" Birthday, and since she was going to be gone till evening, we had her room to our selves. Behold the change. Ta DaH!Nothing that a little paint, a saw, and some serious sweat couldn't manage. I tell ya, Parker and Monty puttin' their heads together and here's what we got. Thanks to Mac and Cammy for the bed a la Bedknobs and Broomsticks! She was very pleased. Thanks to Meg for the shout out from DC and for the calls and cards and e-cards. Maddi is loved and her Birthday was a huge success! Happy Birthday you adult you.

We go way back!

Oh yeah.... this is us in 1984.
And yes we are wearing matching "Olympic Shirts". We believed ourselves to be the "official" family of the 1984 Olympics. We made the shirts (note the fabric has all the colors of the Olympic rings)and had purchased tickets well before the games, like in January of that year in a lottery system. We were awarded 8 tickets to the Track and Field events and the first baseball (exhibition) game, venue=Dodger Stadium! Parker and Dad Moffat were in Sport Spectator Heaven, being lifelong fans of Track and Field and the event being held @USC / Coliseum which is where Dad attended College and played baseball I might add. The daily events would be thus: Watch the morning recap while eating breakfast. Then, head out to the events and enjoy the day, then race(well, not actually race, because of the traffic etc.) home to Marti's or Merry Ann's to watch the recap on television for several hours. This Olympic obsession has become our pattern to date. Life pretty much slows down to a crawl till the closing ceremonies. We might just be the official Olympic family after all. So what.. you ask? Well..... as we watch in the comfort our home, you know, High Def T.V. , swigs, T.V. tray dinners, we see all of the controversial calls, the faulty judgments, and the thrill of the spectacle that is Olympic Sport, complete with sympathetic, compassionate tears and patriotic pride. Basically for 24 years we have loved it! We would not want to miss a single day. We reminisce back to the 84 Olympics with joy and just so you know this happened like, right in front of us. (we sat in row 16 just @ the curve of the track). Mary Decker (on the ground)was heavily favored to win a gold medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics. In the 3000 meters final, Zola Budd(inside lane and barefoot), half a stride ahead of Decker, moved to the inside lane, inadvertently crowding Decker, who collided with Budd and fell spectacularly to the curb. Decker's hip was injured and she was unable to resume the race. She was carried from the track by her future husband. At a press conference she said that Budd was to blame for the collision. (In track races it is generally the trailing athlete's responsibility to avoid contact with the runner ahead; on the other hand, it is an accepted convention among most distance runners that the leader should be a full stride ahead before cutting in.) Track officials initially disqualified Budd for obstruction, but she was reinstated just one hour later once officials had viewed films of the race. Other Names and fun facts from the '84 Olympics: Mary Lou Retton, Carl Lewis, Joan Benoit, Synchronized Swimming and Rhythmic Gymnastics debuted. All in all a great year.

The Tassel Is Worth The Hassle!

A brief update from the Moffat clan. We are temporarily in seclusion sewing back on the buttons that were burst in pride over our graduates last weekend.
It's great to get a two-fer in the Graduation Dept. We loved the Pomp and Circumstance. (Start the Music now) The Pomp was fun and the circumstance of getting off to the event was one that we worked carefully around. We Thank you all for the faith and prayers in behalf of Parker.
He's a degree better. See?
The Best circumstance is having the Family together(all Except Rob,who was missed through the weekend) and getting some G-Ma and G-Pa time w/ the G-Kids.
We love our little beauties!
Plus Happy Golden Birthday to Mac! (You know, 29 on the 29th! Yay!) It was fun to have his cute little bunch with us.
Sorry for the no post thing for 6 weeks. I could be back! Maybe:)
